The SouthernStar MidSummer Classic XVII is now in the record books. We had a
wonderful day and lots of great competition. We had a great collection of couples
competing, and the quality of the dancing was exceptional. It is clear that you all
have been working very hard.
Speaking of competitors, we would like to
thank each and every one of you for participating. You are the life blood of any
competition! I would like to give a special thanks to all out-of-state dancers who
came such a long way to be with us and to all the first time dancers who chose our
competition as the paltform to new dancing adventures. As far as
my memory serves, we had more first time dancers than ever before; that
is very exciting. I also want to thank the young competitors from
the Orlando areas that danced with us. They gave every one in the
ballroom such joy to watch them dance. They also gave us hope for
the future of ballroom dancing in Florida and The United States.
Thanks to all the enthusiastic spectators.
Dancers will dance much better before an excited, attentive crowd, and this crowd
was great and rambunctious.
Thanks to the great panel of judges.
It is always a pleasure to be judged by such expertise.
Thanks to Richard and Laurie Collet for the
use of the Rhapsody Ballroom. What a great place to dance!
Thanks to all the great volunteers who made
the whole day come off with out a flaw.

moving the day along.

Nolan, and I took
over to 1000 photos of the dancers at the competition. Of course we will
be lucky if 1/2 of them are any good. Nikki and I will be working
on editing and arranging the pictures this week. Hopefully we will
have them available by next weekend.
