| Southern Star to the Rescue
The chapter recently became aware of a need for
financial assistance to a successful competing ballroom dance couple from Utah. Andrea
Hale and Gherman Mustuc have a long list of credits to their names and recently won the 10
dance category at the USABDA National amateur competition. It came about during a
conversation at the recent USABDA Nationals competition that this very talented young
couple lacked the funds to attend the United States Ballroom Championship in Miami held
the first weekend in September. This is a competition that draws the finest dancers in all
categories from all over the world. For a serious young couple to miss this competition
was unthinkable and yet they just couldn’t afford it on their own. Many young
competing couples who have plans to turn professional are sponsored by corporations and
are given the means to travel and attend the major competitions in this country and
abroad. It was our great pleasure to donate $600 to Andrea and Gherman so that they could
make the trip and participate in the competition. They were so thankful for our financial
assistance and said they couldn’t have made the trip without it. We are pleased to
help such a deserving young couple and to help promote ballroom dancing in the United
States.
